Alappuzha: A son murdered his aged parents and dumped their bodies in a well near their house in   Pandalam, Pathanamthitta district, following property dispute on June 25. The police recovered their bodies  on Thursday. They were identified as  K.M. John, 70, Kanjiravilayil, Pongaladi, Keerukuzhy, and his wife Leelama 62.  The Pandalam police arrested their son Mathews John alias Majo, 33, in connection with the incident.     Majo himself had told his brother, who is abroad, about the murder a few days ago.  The police acted on the basis of the information given by the brother.

Water-filled cans were tethered to both bodies. The accused confessed that he had smashed to death his father with a wooden pole. The mother was killed as she witnessed the  crime.   He took the bodies in a car to the well in a rubber plantation near the house and dumped them into it.  A few days later,  he brought in a bulldozer and told the locals that he wanted to level the well as it reeked of foul odour. The bodies were shifted to the mortuary of a  private hospital in Pandalam after completing the legal procedures, the police said.
