Namakkal: Staffer of firm facing I-T raids attempts suicide
The critically injured employee was rushed to a private hospital in Coimbatore for intensive care treatment.
Namakkal: An employee of a well known private company distributing eggs for the states nutritious noon meal programme and facing raids by the Income Tax (I-T) officials, attempted suicide by jumping from his house terrace at Andipalayam near Tiruchengode in Namakkal district on Friday evening.
Police said 32-year-old Karthikeyan, who works as cashier in the company, was being questioned by the I-T sleuths again at his house located behind the company at SKP Nagar, in the wake of the Income Tax investigations into the firm since Wednesday.
Karthikeyan reportedly told the I-T officials that he felt giddy and came out of his house only to reach the terrace and jump to the floor. The critically injured employee was rushed to a private hospital in Coimbatore for intensive care treatment.
This terribly tragic suicide attempt by the company's staff amid an I-T investigation has sent shock waves across Tiruchengode late this evening.
