Residents of Paturu ransack house of alleged child assaulter in Nellore district

TIRUPATI: Residents of Thikkana Colony in Paturu village of Kovur in Nellore district ransacked the house of a 60-year-old man as he allegedly tried to sexually assault a minor girl.

The accused, Shaik Meera Saheb, entered a house and targeted the 8-year-old girl while her parents were away on Thursday morning. The girl screamed for help and ran outside the house. The man also took to his heels.

Locals rushed to rescue the victim. Enraged at Saheb’s action, they ransacked his house and set it on fire. Kovur police rushed to the spot and pacified the locals. Based on the complaint from the victim's parents, police registered a case.
