Coimbatore: RDO officials to close Healer Baskar's centre

Based on the complaint, police arrested him under sections 133 Cr.PC AND IPC sections 420 and 511.

Coimbatore: Revenue department officials are yet to raid the Centre of Healer Baskar near Koviapudhur in the suburbs of Coimbatore. Baskar, 42, a resident of Selvapuram owns a life style centre, NISTAI, near Koviapudhur, a centre for healing without medicine. 

Police sources said that Baskar has completed a certificate course in acupuncture and conducts seminars at many places including Singapore, Kuwait and Malaysia for treatment sans modern medicine and through natural healing methods.  

Recently Baskar was arrested by police after he made an announcement through social media to attend a workshop at his centre on how to deliver a baby at home without the assistance of a doctor. 

The Health department lodged a complaint against him with Kuniyamuthoor police claiming that Baskar had not completed any recognized medical course but was treating patients. Based on the complaint, police arrested him under sections 133 Cr.PC AND IPC sections 420 and 511. 

Based on a detailed report from the police, officials from the Revenue department are allegedly planning to seal the centre, but refused to disclose particulars.

RDO (south) S.Dhanalingam told the DC that he had not received any report from police. Further action will be based on the report, he said but refused to disclose details on their plan to shut down the centre.
