ACB officials search Srisailam temple records
The search would continue for the next three days and a detailed report would later be sent to the government
KURNOOL: Amid allegations of massive financial irregularities at the Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy temple in Srisailam, an anti- corruption bureau team held a search of the administration building, records rooms, ticket counters, the computer server room and the accounts section on Friday.
The team led by DSP Shivanarayana Swami seized some documents for further analysis.
The search related to different scams including the alleged siphoning off of Rs2.12 crore by the temple staff. The search would continue for the next three days and a detailed report would later be sent to the government.
In the scam that got exposed in 2017, temple staff as also outsourced employees siphoned off over Rs 2crore by manipulating the software used for doing the bookings vis-a-vis various arjitha sevas and also room occupancy by the devotees. Several temple staff including regular employees and outsourced staff had been suspended.
However, since some years have already passed after the scam came to public notice, it is likely the evidence relating to this could be hard to collect now. The government had delayed action in this respect.
The ACB officials on Friday interrogated some key persons who suspectedly played a key role in stealing money from the temple.
