Arms factory busted in West Bengal; 101 firearms, 9 kg explosives seized

Kolkata: An illegal arms factory was busted and a huge cache of firearms and explosives recovered at Maheshtala in South 24 Parganas district, police said on Wednesday.

Acting on an information, police raided the house of Aftab Hussain last night and seized 101 firearms, including two 9 mm pistols besides nine kg explosives, Superintendent of Police Sunil Choudhary told reporters.

The illegal arms were supplied in South and North 24 Parganas districts, Kolkata and Bihar by Md Selim, the SP said.

Five persons, including Hussain, were arrested, he said and added that four of them were from Bihar.

On whether they have any link with any terrorist group, he said probe was on.
