Chennai: Three youths who indulged in describing a woman passenger in vulgar terms at Chennai airport, while they waited for their flight, were detained by the police within minutes after they objectified her.

Police said that the three youths Niyaz, Najib and Amir were waiting for the rescheduled Kochi flight and were talking in Malayalam while objectifying the woman sitting not very far from them.

The 27-year-old woman was waiting for a flight with her family to go to Delhi. The three men thought she may not understand their language and kept on talking about her appearance.

But she, knew the language and became aware what they were talking, and alerted the police control room through the airline manager. She had not moved from her seat when she alerted the police.

The three youth became aware of the seriousness of their actions only when police reached the scene and started interacting with the woman. As soon as the woman identified the three, the police team went to them and asked them to accompany to the police station.

Though initially, the three tried to wriggle out of the situation, saying that they never teased the woman and also claimed that they were talking among themselves only.

When the woman told the three that she could understand Malayalam the three became silent and went to the station with the cops after they were offloaded from the flight.

The woman, however, had not given any written complaint. Police later booked the three for public nuisance and allowed them to go after remitting a fine.
