Burglars on the Prowl, Target Over 5 Houses in 2 Days
WARANGAL: A series of house thefts in different colonies under Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) limits here in Hanamkonda has left residents worried. The burglars strike at more than five locked houses and decamped with around 135 tolas of gold and silver ornaments along with cash, the police said.
According to Warangal ACP, Bonala Kishan, the burglars used to do a quick recce before breaking into houses. Only locked houses are targeted and crimes are committed in the night, he said.
In one incident, the burglars robbed 30 tolas of gold ornaments after breaking into a locked house at Gayatri apartment in Mattewada. Similarly, in Naimnagar and Kishanpura areas, the gang broke into three apartments and decamped with 60 tolas of gold ornaments and cash.
In another incident in Subedari, the gang members broke into a house at Maruthi apartments and took away 15 tolas of gold ornaments. In a similar case, they strike at three houses at Puppalagutta in Warangal city and another house near MGM hospital and made away with 30 tolas of gold ornaments along with cash.
Based on complaints lodged by the victims, the police registered a case and started an investigation and gathered the evidence with Clues teams and CCTV footage recorded in the vicinity. Special teams were deployed and intensified search operations to nab the burglars, he informed.
ACP appealed to people to inform their neighbours and local police before they go out of the city by locking their houses properly. He also advised house owners and tenants to utilise the services provided by the police.
