Lecturer ended life, says Warangal police
Police found that Praveen was depressed.
Hyderabad: The Warangal police has confirmed that MS College lecturer Praveen Kumar had committed suicide by jumping in front of a truck. The police questioned nine witnesses who were present at the mishap spot.
Praveen had posted on his Facebook page last Thursday that ISIS training was going on in the college and that he faced a threat from the management. After that he was ‘killed in an accident’.
The Matewada police who investigated the accident said that on Thursday at around 10.30 pm, Praveen came to MGM X roads in Warangal and enquired with the driver of a truck who was waiting at a red signal about his route.
“As the signal turned green and when the truck was about to move, he left his bag on the footpath, rushed towards the truck and jumped under the front tyres,” inspector Shivaramaiah said.
Police found that Praveen was depressed. He was not using his mobile phone for around a week before he died. Only one SMS was sent on Thursday at 7 am and the location was Hyderabad.
The police enquired with his colleagues at MS College. They said that they had no problems in college as allleged by Praveen in his FB posts.
“He was a normal guy, but with few friends. Often he used to be alone. They said they do not know why he had posted the messages,” the inspector said, adding the case will be changed to suspicious death. The Hyderabad police who enquired with the college staff about harassment from the management found no evidence of it.
Kasha Praveen Kumar, a chemistry lecturer working at MS Junior College at Malakpet, had posted on his Facebook page, “An ISIS training centre exists in Hyderabad. I face a threat from the MS Junior College management. If anything happens to me that’s because of the MS Education Academy. I face a threat from ISI. Last year they tried to kill me. Police can u give me protection.”
The police is investigating the case.
