Bengaluru: 19-yr-old stabbed to death by friend over drug money

Bengaluru: A 19-year-old boy was stabbed to death by his friend after a fight broke out over between them over money for drugs on Wednesday morning.

The deceased, Syed Wasim, was a resident of Modi Masjid in DJ Halli. The police arrested Shabbir (20), an accused, in connection with the murder.

The police said that Wasim, who worked at a bakery, and Shabbir, a woodcutter, were close friends. On Tuesday night, they fought after Shabbir asked Wasim for money to buy drugs. The duo later resolved the fight and went back home.

Around 12.30 pm on Wednesday, Wasim was walking past Shabbir's workplace on Modi Masjid Road when Shabbir picked up a fight with Wasim for staring at him. In the heat of the argument, Shabbir rushed into the shop, brought a sharp object and stabbed Wasim.

By the time Wasim's brother Imran, who was nearby, could reach the spot, Shabbir fled the scene. Wasim, who was lying in a pool of blood, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died during treatment.

The DJ Halli police rushed to the spot and beefed up security in the area. Later, the police arrested Wasim.
