Malappuram: Taking note of the recent cyber bullying of three Muslim girls who dared to perform a flash mob in Malappuram by a section of netizens on social media, the Kerala Women’s Commission on Wednesday suo motu registered a case against the hate campaigners. 

Commission’s chairperson M.C. Josephine has directed the Cyber Cell of the police to take action against them and submit a report. Such campaign that hurts the dignity of the girls is a shame to the culture of Kerala, a release by the commission has stated. Stern action will be taken against people involved in such crimes, she warned.

The flash mob by three Muslim girls who are students of a dental college in the district was held as part of the World AIDS Day commemoration on December 1 which was organised by the district health department. The flash mob triggered a debate after a short video of the event was shared in social media platforms which went viral at once. The video of the girls wearing headscarves had received bouquets and brickbats from various quarters while a section resorted to attacking the girls for breaking religious norms.
