Bhubaneswar: Special courts to try honour killings

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has specified two courts in the state to be special courts for trial of criminal cases pertaining to “honour killing” and violence against couples.

As per an official notification by the home department, courts of Second Additional District and Sessions Judge, Berhampur and SDJM, Nabarangpur have been specified as special courts to deal with cases of “honour killing” and violence against couples, respectively, arising out of their respective jurisdiction.

Odisha had earlier said that fast track courts would try “honour killing” cases.
