Telangana: Youth harasses housewife, held

Hyderabad: A 19-year-old degree student who harassed a 35-year-old housewife by posting her phone number on FB and by naming her as a sex worker was arrested. The student, T. Ashok, who was using the victim’s WiFi connection without her knowledge developed a grudge against her after she found it out.

Police said that since some months the victim has been receiving calls from strangers asking her about the charges for the services that she had mentioned on Facebook. The victim asked a caller about how he got her number and found that it was posted on a fake FB profile. Police traced the IP address from where the fake profile was created and accessed, and found it to be a mobile device.

Using the IMEI number police traced Ashok to Kapra. Police found that seven months ago, Ashok was staying at LB Nagar. While staying there he was the victim’s neighbour, and had accessed her WiFi router. Ashok purchased a sim card and using it created a Facebook profile in the victim’s name. He posted the victim’s phone number on the FB page. Police found Ashok was also involved in a theft case in LB Nagar. He was remanded.
