Hyderabad: Investigation into 40-year-old realtor Gampa Santosh and his 65-year-old mother Padma's self-immolation case due to political leaders' harassment is progressing at a snail’s pace because of delay by Kamareddy police.

Even though police officers transferred the investigation officer (IO) and Banswada DSP and posted a new DSP rank officer, the latter is yet to be assigned the investigation.

Sources said that police have collected clues from the place of the scene, including a selfie video footage in which the victim Santosh and his mother made serious allegations against several police officers and political leaders for harassing them and driving them to the extreme step.

Police officials have also collected the Facebook links in which the victims posted some objectionable content against police and political leaders.

The new DSP of Banswada Jagannath Reddy said that he took charge two months back and is not aware of the case.

Sources from Kamareddy police said that they have sent all samples that have been collected to a forensic lab, which is yet to submit the report. It is only after they get the lab report that Kamareddy police will file a charge sheet.

According to police officials, police have recorded statements of hotel staff and relatives of Santosh at his native place Ramayampet in Medak district.
