Woman stabs alcoholic husband to death in Telangana
Hyderabad: Unable to bear constant harassment and physical assaults by her husband, a woman stabbed him to death at their residence at Nanajipur in Shamshabad late Saturday night. Police said that the woman confessed to the murder.
According to police, V. Raju, 40, a daily-wage labourer, got married to Jyothi, about 12 years ago. They have an 11-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son.
"They reside in a flat in Nanajipur. She mentioned in her statement that he was an alcoholic, who beat her up regularly. On Saturday night, Raju came home in an inebriated condition. He picked up a quarrel with his wife over some petty issue and beat her up. In a fit of rage Jyothi took a knife and stabbed him to death," said police, adding that the children were asleep at that time.
The woman has been taken into custody by the police, who booked her under section 302 (murder) of the IPC and shifted the body for postmortem.
