Cops Reach Out to Sahiti Infra Victims
HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad police briefed around 500 people who were allegedly duped by Sahiti Infratech Ventures India Pvt Ltd, on the progress in the investigation. They had been allegedly cheated under the pretext of pre-launch offers on residential apartments last year.
Joint commissioner of police, Crimes and SIT, A.V. Ranganath said, “We told them of the progress in the investigation and shared data of the properties owned by the accused persons and the firms which were attached. We asked them to furnish details of any more properties or schemes rolled out by the accused.”
Investigations have revealed that the group had cheated around 3,000 persons of about Rs 1,111 crore. Nine properties owned by the accused and the projects floated by the firms have been attached.
The first case was registered in March last at the Central Crime Station after which Sahiti Infratech owner Bhoodati Laxminarayana, his wife, son and their associates were arrested. While the investigation was on, 42 victims filed writ petitions in the High Court and got an order for registration of cases. The CCS began a joint investigation.
“Based on the order, all cases registered in police stations in Cyberabad, Hyderabad and Medak were transferred to the CCS. Fifty cases were registered against Sahiti Infratech and its directors and are being investigated,” Ranganath said.
