3 held for forging death certificates in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Sleuths of Sultan Bazar police busted a gang that made fake death certificates and arrested three men, including the municipal revenue officer in Nalgonda district, following a complaint from LICs Koti branch manager.
The arrested were identified as Aripirala Ravi Sankar Sarma, 38, Mohd Mujeeb-Ulla-Khan, 42, and revenue officer Khaja Arifuddin, 40.
On January 12, a complaint was received from branch manager P.P. Rama Rao against Ushasri and Ravi Shankar Sharma for making ‘death’ claims during their lifetime submitting fake death certificates, police said. Ravi Shankar submitted a fake death certificate of his wife and claimed '14.15 lakh insurance on her name.
During the investigation, Sultan Bazar police nabbed the trio and seized the death certificate of Ravi Shankar Sharma, which was procured fraudulently, from them.
“Ravi Shankar in cahoos with his wife Aripirala Ushasri, Mohammed Mujeeb-ulla-Khan and Khaja Arifuddin fraudulently procured the death certificate for Ravi, who was alive, and submitted it at the office of LIC, Putlibowli and Chaitanyapuri branch through LIC agent Pulla Reddy, who acted as an agent on behalf of his wife Vinitha Gogi Reddy, to make a death claim of '14,15,736 by deceiving officials,” said East Zone DCP C. Shashidhar Raju.
Apart from this, Ravi Shankar was also involved in a cheating case in Chaitanyapuri police station, which is still under investigation, he added.
