Chennai: 2 juveniles held for killing man in attempt to rob him

Chennai: The city police on Wednesday arrested two minor boys who killed a 55-year-old man by pushing him in front of an express train in an attempt to rob him.

The deceased Kumar, 55, a resident of Arumugam Nagar in Chromepet worked for a private company in Adamakkam.  According to police, around 10 pm on Thursday, Kumar was crossing the tracks in St Thomas Mount railway station when two teenagers intercepted him. They threatened him with a knife to hand over his mobile phone. when Kumar resisted they allegedly attacked him and pushed him down. They allegedly took his mobile phone and purse and fled the spot.  Within a few minutes, an express train hailing from Chennai Egmore to Madurai ran over the man and he died on the spot.
