Woman burnt to death by husband, in-laws for dowry in UP
Gagan, the victim's brother, has lodged a complaint that his sister was being harassed for dowry since her marriage.
Muzaffarnagar: A 26-year-old woman was burnt to death allegedly by her husband and in-laws for dowry at Chkrowala village in Muzaffarnagar, police said.
Amrita was killed on Saturday by her husband Pradeep and his brother Omkar, his uncles Setho and Ashok, they said.
Gagan, the victim's brother, has lodged a complaint that his sister was being harassed for dowry since her marriage and later she was murdered, police said.
A case has been registered against the four accused who are absconding, they added.
In a separate incident, a 23-year-old woman Poonam was on Saturday found hanging in her house at Buddakheri village in Muzaffarnagar, police said.
Her brother has lodged a complaint that Poonam's husband Atul and in-laws allegedly hanged her to death, they said.
He alleged that Atul and his family were harassing her for dowry since their marriage in April 2010, police said.
A case has been registered against Atul and his five family members, police added.
