Hyderabad: 12-year-old boy kills his mother
Based on a complaint from Renuka's brother, Ganesh, the police registered a case of murder and under the Juvenile Justice Act.
Hyderabad: For a few rupees, a 12-year-old son killed his mother on Saturday night. According to police, K. Renuka, 40, lived in a rented house in Shivlal Nagar, Mangalhat, with her son.
Her husband, Srinivas, died almost 10 years ago. After his death, the mother and son were earning their livelihood by picking rags and scrap and selling off the waste material.
As the boy was a minor, his mother took the money he earned as well, which was not received well by him. Renuka’s relatives claimed that often the boy did not give his mother his share of earnings and used to argue that he would like to keep his money and use it.
On Saturday, after they returned home, Renuka asked her son for the day’s earnings. An argument broke out between them when he refused to hand over the money.
In a fit of rage, the boy took a knife from the kitchen and slit his mother’s throat. Neighbours found Renuka in a pool of blood and alerted the police on Sunday.
“The incident could have happened sometime at night. The boy is not at home. We suspect that he fled after killing his mother,” Mangalhat inspector A. Sanjeeva Rao said.
Based on a complaint from Renuka’s brother, Ganesh, the police registered a case of murder and under the Juvenile Justice Act. Renuka’s body was handed over to relatives after post-mortem.
