Bengaluru man kills cousin over family dispute

BENGALURU: A long standing  family dispute turned ugly after a scrap dealer, along with his two other associates, repeatedly stabbed to death his 35-year-old cousin in Hennur police station limits. They then abandoned the body on railway tracks and fled.

The incident came to light on Sunday morning following which Hennur police launched a manhunt for the assailants.  The deceased, Nadeem, was a resident of Tilak Nagar. He and his cousin Sultan had developed animosity and had attacked each other previously.  

On Saturday night Sultan called Nadeem for a compromise, but the two brothers got involved in verbal altercation over an old issue. Sultan lost his cool, grabbed a knife and stabbed Nadeem. The assailants then dumped the body in a car and abandoned it near railway tracks near Geddalahalli and fled, police said.

A few passersby noticed the body and informed the police. The police and FSL experts reached the spot. His identity was established and family was informed about the incident.

During questioning, Imthiyaz, Nadeem’s brother in-law, revealed about his rivalry with Sultan. Based on the complaint by Nadeem’s family members, Hennur police have registered a case of murder.

Two die in serial accident
Two people died while five others were injured after a speeding car crossed the median and hit a van and a bike. The incident took place on the busy Bengaluru-Mysuru Highway and traffic was thrown out of gear in Kallagopahalli Gate near Bidadi for nearly three hours on Sunday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Raju, (30), native of Mysuru, who was riding the bike and Yashas, (28), a resident of BTM Layout, who was sitting in the rear seat of the Alto car. Shivaraju, who was riding pillion, got critically injured during the accident.

According to the police the accident happened around 6.45 pm, when the driver of the Maruti Alto car lost control over the vehicle and crossed the median. It rammed into a Maruti Omni van and a bike coming in the opposite direction. The Omni crashed into a bike and Raju died on the spot, while others were rushed to a nearby hospital. Bidadi police have registered a case.
