CBI searching for weapons used in Viveka murder

Kadapa: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is searching for weapons used in killing of former minister Y. S. Vivekananda Reddy. In this regard, the bureau has taken Pulivendula court’s permission for 10 days custody of Sunil Yadav, one of the prime accused in the murder case; currently lodged in Kadapa Central Jail.
It is learnt that based on information the prime accused gave, CBI has been searching for the weapons since Saturday morning in a drainage canal at Rotarypuram near Vivekananda Reddy house at Pulivendula. Water in the canal is being drained out using labourers, who are shifting the same into sewage tankers.

Due to the delay being caused, CBI is deploying oil engines to evacuate the water from the drainage canal.

CBI officials have accelerated the probe since last 62 days. It had earlier taken Sunil Yadav into custody in Goa.

Incidentally, officials have also questioned Munna, owner of a sandals shop in Pulivendula; Dastagiri, a former driver of Viveka; and Umashankar, a milkman; on Saturday.

There are also reports that killers have buried the murder weapons in sand adjacent to the river.
