Tamil Nadu: Officer pours phenyl into food

Patients and visitors to GH take food sold out in push carts at an affordable rate.

Salem: Vendors, who sell food items in push carts in front of Government Hospital, sought action against the Mettur Municipal Commissioner for allegedly pouring phenyl into food items.

The vendors alleged that on Thursday morning, Mettur municipal commissioner Narayanan visited without prior information and poured phenyl into food items, milk and water kept for sale. 

When shops put up in front of the hospital were removed by the municipality recently for road laying works, the vendors started earning their livelihood by selling food in push carts. Patients and visitors to GH take food sold out in push carts at an affordable rate.
