Police from MP and Jharkhand land in Vijayawada.
Vijayawada: The marriage bureaus based in Vijayawada are under the scanner of police from Madhya Pradesh and Jharkand, following complaints that fake IDs are being created from Vijayawada city.
Police teams from both the states have been trying to find the culprits, those who have created fake matrimony IDs and cheating the girls and women of their places.
There were reports that some persons, claiming themselves as the natives of both the states and having business in the Capital region, had cheated a few women of both the states in the name of marriages. However, it was found that the accused have created fake matrimony IDs and also reportedly took the assistance of a few marriage bureaus in the city.
In fact, the Union government has contemplated to crack the whip making matrimonial websites responsible for obscene material or misuse of their platform for dating or chatting.
Prospective grooms and brides will now have to give proof of identity and address before they can register on a matrimonial website, according to the draft guidelines by the ministry of women and child development.
Transmitting obscene material electronically already comes under the Information Technology Act, Section 67, that prescribes a jail term of 3 years and penalty of Rs 5 lakh for the first offence and a prison term of 5 years and fine of Rs 10 lakh for subsequent offences.
