TIRUPATI: The Nellore sub-division police on Thursday busted a gang involved in trapping women by promising to provide them opportunities to act in short films and later forcing them into prostitution.
The police found that the primary accused, head of the gang, has been running brothels at various places in Nellore city.
According to Nellore DSP J. Srinivasulu Reddy, the primary accused, Shaik Zakeer Hussain, 32, makes short films and had promised the girls roles in his ventures. But, during the making of the film, he would trap them into having sexual intercourse.
“While having sexual intercourse, he used to record it without the knowledge of the victim. He would then blackmail later and force them into prostitution. Subsequently, the victims are sent to brothels in different places in Nellore. Zakeer used to supply sex workers on demand to these brothels,” the DSP said. Some of the women were running brothels themselves.
One of the victims, a minor from Kovur, lodged a complaint with the Chinna Bazaar police on November 6, stating Zakeer had trapped her about two years ago by promising her she would act in films and had sexual intercourse with her and videographed it without her knowledge.
“Two days back, the accused Zakeer Hussain showed the video of him with the victim and started blackmailing her to take up prostitution. He also threatened to post the video on social media if she refused to take up prostitution,” the DSP said.
Zakeer Hussain was arrested at South Bypass road in the city on Thursday. During the interrogation, he confessed.
