Anantapur: Minor girl killed by family members

Anantapur: A minor girl was killed by her mother and brother on Wednesday for refusing to marry the groom they had selected for her marriage.

The family belongs to Kotanka village in Garladinne mandal of Anantapur district.

According to police, Komala, 17, refused to marry the person her parents had chosen. She continued refusing even after her family made several efforts to convince her.

Following this, her angry mother and brother beat her up severely and throttled her using her chunni.

On knowing about the incident, Garladinne police rushed to the spot. They have registered a case against the mother and brother of the deceased.

The body of the minor girl has been shifted to the Anantapur hospital for post-mortem.
