Cyberabad police rescues child bride
The girl's wedding was scheduled for Wednesday midnight.
Hyderabad: A 14-year-old child bride was rescued by Cyberabad police and Balala Hakkula Sangham at Kavvaguda village near Shamshabad, a few hours before her marriage. The girl’s wedding was scheduled for Wednesday midnight. The groom was 25 years old. Balala Hakkula Sangham activists said the girl was forced to agree to marry G. Ramesh, from Elcherla.
“The girl’s father died years ago. Her mother and uncle planned the secret wedding at midnight,” said activist Achyuth Rao. The girl said that she was not aware of what was happening. She was shifted to a rescue home. Her family said they do not have money to marry of the girl when they girl grows up. The groom and his family are yet to be traced. The police launched an investigation into the case.
