Kakinada: 3 held with Rs 6.5 lakh ornaments

KAKINADA: One Town CCS police, on Friday, arrested three persons, Thangella Srinivasa Rao of Turani, Avvadi Ramu of Turangi in Kakinada Rural mandal and Dharmadi Durga Prasad of Jagannaickpur, on charges of theft and recovered gold and silver ornaments worth around Rs 6.50 lakh.

The Crime DSP in-charge A. Pallapu Raju and Kakinada DSP P. Ravi Varma told reporters here on Friday that a K.D. Sheet (known depredato) was opened against Dharmadi Prasad in Kakinada I-Town CCS.

Charges were framed against him for breaking into 15 houses under Indrapalem and Sarpavaram police stations.

Thangella Srinivasa Rao had earlier gone to jail on charges of stealing 19 kilos silver and 460 grams gold ornaments from a jewellery shop in May, 2018 at Pedapudi.

Thangella Srinivasa Rao, Durga Prasad and Avvadi Ramu became friends in jail and formed a team. They broke the shutters of a jewellery shop in October 2018 at Suryapet in Telangana State and stole 12 kilos of silver ornaments.

Later, they stole 8 kilos of silver and 70 grams of gold ornaments from a jewellery shop under Ravikamtham police station area in Visakhapatnam District in October, 2018. Five cell phones were stolen under Kakinada One Town police station in December 2018.

Mr Pallapu Raju said that the accused were arrested on Friday and 10.400 kilos of silver and 70 grams of gold ornaments and five cell phones totally worth Rs.6.50 lakh were recovered from them. He said that another three accused have to be nabbed in these theft cases.

One Town crime police registered a case.
