The reaction to online harassment led to women increasing online privacy controls and also reducing the amount of information they shared online.

Bengaluru: On Women’s Day I came face-to-face with the many troubles faced by our gender. At about 3 pm on Wednesday, I came out of Namdharis on 12th Main Road, Indiranagar.

I was crossing the street when a man on a bike rode past me, slowed down and blew a kiss.  I was extremely angry but restricted myself to a hand gesture telling him to go away. He continued undaunted, thoroughly enjoying himself.

Brushing it off as just another case of eve-teasing, I started my bike and began to head home. As I passed by a men’s clothing store, I saw the man again. He stood there, blowing kisses and trying to get my attention.

Very annoyed by this time, I decided to follow him and make myself heard. He remained unafraid even as I gave chase, simply slowing down and leering in my direction.

When I shouted out an insult, he looked at me as if I was crazy and raised his hand as if to say, “Why are you angry with me? I have done nothing to you.”
I decided to chase him and he fled, taking sudden turns to get rid of me.

I maneuvered my bike close to his and screamed at him to stop, right next to New Horizon Public School. As I attempted to take a picture, he sped off.

I didn’t give up, because I wanted him to know he can’t trouble women in this way. Unfortunately, I lost him after a point. He probably hid after a turn. The incident left me sad and infuriated.
