Four held for Walayar siblings' death
The bodies were found in a single room house at Walayar.
Kochi: The Walayar police probing the rape and unnatural death of two minor girls on Wednesday took four persons into custody, including a relative and their neighbours.
Police sources refused to rule out the possibilities of murder as the younger sister aged nine had earlier deposed before the police that she had seen two persons coming out of the house on the day when the elder sister, 13, died.
She was found dead on January 13 and her sister on the same spot on March 4. The bodies were found in a single room house at Walayar. A top police team led by Thrissur Range IG M.R. Ajith Kumar, Malappuram SP Debeshkumar Behra, Palakkad Asp G. Poonkuzhali and local CI C. Premanadakrishnan visited the place and monitored the investigation. Meanwhile, human rights activists alleged foulplay in the investigation. They pointed to the delay in arresting the culprits even after the mother of the children deposed that one of their relative used to sexually abuse the first child.
