Bengaluru: Conman held for duping school staff, jewellery seized
According to the police, he used to pose as a doctor and visit schools, claiming to be its alumnus, and offer to donate money.
Bengaluru: The RT Nagar police have arrested a conman who posed as a wealthy doctor and visited various schools to steal gold ornaments of teaching staff after befriending them.
The accused has been identified as Abdul Khadar alias Dr Salim, a resident of K.G. Halli. The police recovered gold ornaments worth Rs 1.80 lakh from him. According to the police, he used to pose as a doctor and visit schools, claiming to be its alumnus, and offer to donate money.
He used to befriend the teachers and principal by providing them false promises that he would gift them sarees and gain their trust. He would then tell them about the forthcoming marriage of his daughter and approach teachers claiming that he liked the pattern of their jewellery and wanted a similar one for his daughter.
He used to persuade them to part with their jewellery for a while, to get a similar one made for his daughter, and then disappear. He was previously booked under cheating cases in Shivajinagar and HAL police station limits.
Investigation revealed that he had previously conned people by posing himself as a doctor in various scanning centres and decamped with patients’ the ornaments.
