Hyderabad: The Medchal police on Sunday took three persons into custody hours for the murder a 22-year-old woman, Dharti Singh from Odisha, in her house at Dabilpur village.

Police identified the accused as Abdul Azim and Mandakini, another Odisha native, as well as one Pakiza Begum who had allegedly wanted Dharti Singh dead. Police said that Azim and Mandakini had entered Dharti Singh’s house and strangled her to death with a towel.

When the accused were leaving the place, houseowner M. Mallesh saw the victim lying dead and called the police.

Police said that Dharti and Shaik Chand of the same village were in an extramarital affair for four months. On coming to know of this, Chand’s wife Pakiza Begum hatched a plan to eliminate Dharti.

Pakiza gained the confidence of Azim, her neighbour, and told him of her plan. On Sunday morning, Pakiza supplied Azim with liquor and asked him and his friend Mandakani to eliminate Dharti. The duo executed the plan, Medchal inspector S. Rajashekar Reddy said.

Dharti and Mandakini had come to city nine months back from Odisha and were working in a private company.
