Hyderabad: Man blamed for wife's death under suspicious circumstances
The victim S Sujatha's relatives alleged that her husband had killed her as she had not conceived even after four years of marriage.
Hyderabad: A 29-year-old woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances in her husband’s house in Chilkalguda on Wednesday.
The victim S. Sujatha’s relatives alleged that her husband S. Chandrasekhar, 35, had killed her as she had not conceived even after four years of marriage. They said Chandrashekar, a hotel receptionist, had also been allegedly harassing her for additional dowry.
Police booked a case against Chandrasekar for suspicious death. Police said the incident occurred at Chandrasekhar’s house in Warasiguda on Wednesday morning. Police received information that Sujatha was found hanging in her room. Police then informed Sujatha’s brother and parents about the death. Chandrasekhar said that his wife hanged herself from the ceiling.
However, Sujatha’s brother M. Shivaprasad alleged that Chandrasekhar had been harassing her and had murdered her. “He used to torture her for dowry and for not having children. Our elders had talked to him. I had promised him to pay the dowry later. We had already paid him Rs 3.5 lakh at the time of marriage,” said Shivaprasad.
“Today morning Sujatha gave me a missed call. When I called her back after a few minutes she did not pick up the phone. Later, we came to know that she was dead,” added Shivaprasad.
