Karnataka: Man commits suicide after wife's rape

The deceased is identified as Siddesh, a farmer. He was found hanging from a tree at his agricultural land in Iggalur.

Bengaluru: Dejected after his wife was raped, a 32-year-old man committed suicide by hanging at Iggalur village in Channapatna of Ramanagar district on Wednesday.

The deceased is identified as Siddesh, a farmer. He was found hanging from a tree at his agricultural land in Iggalur on Wednesday afternoon.

The alleged rape took place on Sunday, when Siddesh’s wife was alone at home. The accused, Girisha, 28, had barged into the house around 4 pm and allegedly raped her. While Girisha  was leaving, Siddesh reached home and confronted him.

Girisha pulled out a knife and threatened the couple. The next day, the woman filed a complaint with the Akkur police.

The police had arrested the accused and remanded him in judicial custody.
