Hyderabad: A group of individuals allegedly with the support of some government officials fraudulently claimed over Rs 4.96 crore towards a land parcel at Upperpally in the city, acquired by the land acquisition department to construct a sewage drain box.

The land actually belonged to Sri Murali Manohar Swamy temple at Kishanbagh, but the suspects created forged documents claiming ownership over the land and submitted them to the government, following which the compensation amount was released on their name.

On a complaint from the temple founding trustees, the Central Crime Station (CCS) of Hyderabad police registered a case and started an investigation.

Prima facie the police identified the suspects as Sama Suresh Reddy, Sama Suman Reddy and Sama Shyam Sunder Reddy. A probe was also on to identify the government officials who helped these persons in preparing forged documents and claiming compensation using them.
