Visakhapatnam: A man murdered his 19-year-old former girlfriend — from whom she had separated due to his ill-health caused by an accident — at his home here on Saturday. Police identified the victim as B. Bhavani of Rangireeju Veedhi, and the attacker as B. Satish, 23, of Pandavari Street. Police said Satish and Bhavani were in love and their parents had accepted their relationship and decided to get them married.
A few months ago, Satish met with an accident and went into coma for many days, police said. Bhavani, who was pursuing her nursing course in Guntur, dropped out and came to the city to help him. Satish’s parents reportedly advised Bhavani to find another boy as Satish would not be in a position to work and sustain himself. Bhavani took their advice and decided to resume her nursing course.
Later, he came out of coma. As she stopped seeing him, Satish got irritated and suspected that she was having a relationship with another man, and used to quarrel with her. Police said Satish was alone at home on Saturday and called Bhavani over, saying he was not well and that he had to discuss some issues. As soon as she entered the house, Satish allegedly hit her with a dumbell and slit her throat with a piece of glass. She ran out of the house bleeding and called for help.
Though neighbours rushed the spot to help her, Bhavani died on the spot. Locals thrashed Satish and handed him over to the police. He was admitted into the KGH in an unconscious condition. One-Town inspector P Umapathi registered a case and began investigations.
