UP electrical lineman arrested for making a Dalit lick his shoes, video goes viral
An electrical lineman, belonging to Sonbhadra in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested for allegedly beating up and humiliating a Dalit man after the latter assisted a few locals with electrical issues. The incident was recorded on camera, in a series of videos which went viral on the internet.
The accused was angry with the Dalit man for helping the villagers with electrical issues. According to the police, Tejjbali Singh Patel, assaulted the Dalit man, Rajendra and subjected him to humiliating punishments. The accused made the victim perform sit-ups while holding his ears and then forced him to lick the sandals on his feet.
Police said that the victim, Rajendra, had come to his relative's house in the village. While he was there, Rajendra helped fix the electricity problem in the house.
Knowing about his skills, other villagers also approached him for help with their own problems and Rajendra agreed to help them too. For his services, he took some money which infuriated the accused. Subsequently, the accused went on to allegedly assault and humiliate Rajendra.
With the videos of the incident going viral on the internet, the police took action against the accused. The police arrested him and filed a case. The videos showed the accused allegedly beating the victim and how he forced the victim to lick his footwear.
