Hyderabad: The video of a mother dog whining next to the corps of five beheaded puppies found in a pipeline at Paridhi Vada of Puranapul, Old City, has shocked many animal lovers.
City-based animal welfare organisation Humane Society International/India along with local animal activists filed a complaint and the police issued an FIR in the case.
The Hussaini Alam police have registered a First Information Report and began investigation on Wednesday.
The corps of the puppies were exhumed from where they were buried on Tuesday for postmortem.
Apoorva Katpatal, Cruelty Response Manager, HSI/India, said, “We are appalled by the gruesomeness of the incident. We hope that the police will take immediate cognizance of the crime and make the necessary arrests along with psychiatric evaluation of the accused.”
She added, “This is a shocking incident, not only from the point of view of the animal, but also for humans too. The perpetrator attacking the animal was just the first strike. If the perpetrator/s are not caught, he or she will start hurting other people too.”
