Kurnool police arrest four cyber criminals

Kurnool police arrested four inter-state Guntur-district cybercriminals, who cheated people after collecting money through various fake websites and mobile Apps.

The police also issued a lookout notice for Guntur-based Bobbili Nava Kishore, a key accused residing in Philippians. The four cybercriminals were arrested and `2 lakh was seized from their possession. An amount of `16.50 lakh in their accounts was also frozen.

They created hundreds of bank accounts, websites, and mobile applications to defraud people.

Addressing the media on Sunday, SP Ch Sudheer Kumar Reddy said that the four Gajula Siva Kesava, Ragala Krishna Chaitanya, Bachu Kiran, and Prasa Siva Prasad with technical help from Nava Kishore created several websites and mobile apps to cheat the public using cybertechnology.

Explaining the modus operandi, the SP said that first they invite the public through online games, shopping applications, and betting applications from their fake websites, and then collect bank accounts and Aadhaar numbers and passwords. By using cyber techniques, they subsequently siphon-off money from their accounts. The victims belonged to Andhra Pradesh, Telangana State, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and West Bengal.

He advised people not to have online transactions and online chatting with unknown persons. He added that the department has been focussing on checking such cyber crimes.
