BRS councillor's husband stabbed to death in Korutla

KARIMNAGAR: The husband of BRS party councillor was stabbed to death at the Kargil centre in the mandal headquarters of Korutla in Jagtial district. The 48-year-old Laxmirajam, husband of BRS councilor Pogula Umarani was in a roadside eatery while having tea, when two persons came on a bike and attacked him with knives,

Though the people in the eatery tried to nab the assassilants they fled the spot after threatening them.

Laxmirajam was rushed to the local hospital from where he was taken tothe government hospital in Karimnagar. But on his way to hospital, Laxmirajam succumbed to injuries.

Laxmirajam's wife, the BRS party councilor Umarani lodged a complaint with the police suspecting the role of Nagaraju, Trimurthy, Vamsi and Satyanarayana who belonged to Korutla town.

DSP Ravinder Reddy, Circle inspector Praveen Kumar and Assistant Sub-inspector of Police Kiran Kumar checked the CCTV footage from the area.

Police said that Laxmirajam mentioned the name of one Nagaraju who attacked him while he was being shifted to the hospital.

They suspected that Laxmirajam, who was a contractor of mango plantations, had some land disputes which might have led to the murder.

Police have registered a case and started an investigation.
