Thrissur: The police here are collecting evidence against a well-known  criminal lawyer who allegedly gave a quotation to two goons to beat up an engineer. The Thrissur-based lawyer and the engineer residing at Koorkenchery had a heated argument at a mall in Sakthan Nagar and the goons attacked the engineer with iron rods within a few minutes at the parking lot of his flat at Koorkenchery. Engineer Pulikkathara Gireesh Kumar, 39, suffered two fractures on his arms in the attack.

The incident occurred on Uthradam day and he   underwent urgent surgery at the hospital. Acting on  his  complaint,  Manjamattathil Sabu Wilson of Valakkavu and Kaplengadu Ajeesh of Paranoor in Kechery were picked up by the east police.  It was found that they  had no previous enmity with the engineer and that they had acted as per a quotation.

“We are closing in on the criminal lawyer and he will be arrested as soon as we get enough evidence.  Sabu and Ajeesh were in a beverage shop in Sakthan Nagar while the lawyer and the engineer quarrelled over the honking at the mall nearby,” East SI   M.J. Jijo told DC. The arrested persons are part of a gang that seizes vehicles from defaulters of loans for the financers.  Sabu has nearly ten criminal cases against him and is an accused in the murder of BJP leader Pradosh in Kozhinjambara, Palakkad.
