Chennai: Bank staffer killed on spot in road mishap

Public rushed to his aid and moved him to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.

A total of 672 pedestrians perished in road accidents in the first nine months of this year.

Chennai: A 32-year-old bank staffer was killed on the spot after his bike was knocked down by a courier van near Egmore on Thursday night. The deceased was identified as R. Jagadeesh Kumar (32). A native of Cuddalore, he was staying in the city and was returning home after work when he met with the accident on Marshall road near Thayagam office, police sources said. A courier van, coming in the opposite direction, collided with his motorcycle. 

Public rushed to his aid and moved him to a hospital where he was declared brought dead. Anna Square traffic investigation wing registered a case against the van driver S. Arun Kumar (24) of washermanpet. He was produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
