Vijayawada: The Vijayawada City police have arrested Akkineni Vijayrishna, son of former Jaggaiahpet legislator and TD leader Akkineni Lokeswara Rao, for harassing an NRI woman. He was presented before the court on Thursday.

The victim, who has residing in the US for the past 10 years, had visited India four years ago to attend a family function, where she met Vijaykrishna. Penamaluru inspector K. Damodar said the victim and Vijaykrishna were residents of Penamaluru and they had a relationship for a while.

However, the woman allegedly got to know the “real” nature of Vijaykrishna and married another person and moved to the US. However, Vijaykrishna got her contact details and started harassing her for the past three years, blackmailing her with their intimate photographs and video clips.

The victim sent a complaint to Vijayawada police commissioner Gowtam Sawang through mail. The Commissioner asked Penamaluru police to find the facts and directed them to arrest Vijaykrishna.

“We seized mobile phones, computer, and hard disks which had huge number of videos and objectionable content,” said Mr Sawang. Krishna's wife, too, approached the police on Thursday and filed a complaint against him that he was harassing her for extra dowry.

A case under Sections 354 (d), 506 (criminal intimidation), 509 (gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), IT Act 2008 and 498A of IPC was booked in two cases.
