Hyderabad: Presence of mind and tactical training of a police constable helped the Bachupally police nab a notorious chain- snatcher on Thursday. The accused, Degluri Sunil Kumar, 31, was seen loitering at Pushpak Apartment in Nizampet by the police constable G. Raju.

“The police staff were collecting evidences of his each offence and created an awareness about the suspect’s particulars,” said inspector of Bachupally,  K. Balakrishna Reddy.

On Thursday, as Raju was heading back to station after his intermediate examination bandobast, he identified Sunil at Pushpak Apartment in Nizampet by spotting his bike, outfit and shoes.

“Using his presence of mind, he convinced Sunil to come along with him to the police station by saying that he is pulling him up for his bike’s number plate and that he can leave once he pays a fine. Believing him, Sunil came along to the station, where he was grilled by the officials, following which he confessed to have snatching gold chains,” added the official.  Mr Raju was appreciated for his commendable work.
