Chennai: Four days after the mysterious murder of a woman, the police solved the case with the arrest on Monday of her temple priest husband. The police are holding Bala Ganesh alias Prabhu, 28, Vadapalani on charge of murdering his wife, Gnanapriya, 26.

In an attempt to escape the arrest, Prabhu, a priest at Sivan temple, enacted a drama after murdering her on Thursday. Sensing foul play in the murder, the police tracked him and his movements.

They arrested him on Monday. The cops also arrested his friend, Manoj Kumar of Kattupakkam, a priest, for helping him in the gruesome murder. According to the police Prabhu, hailing from Kancheepuram, married Gnanapriya eight years ago.

They had frequent quarrels since they did not have an issue and he had not succeeded in pacifying her. However, she continued to fight with him and abused him repeatedly.

She had been calling him an 'impotent' man.  The cops suspected that angered by this, he decided to murder her. In the small hours of Thursday, he attacked her on her head with a hammer and she succumbed to the injuries.
