SHE team in Hyderabad prevents 2 cases of child marriage

District recorded 15 cases of child marriages in 2017 of which the CMPO could serve an injunction only in four cases.

Hyderabad: The Bhongir SHE team prevented two child marriages under the Bhongir police station limits on Wednesday.

One of the minors was 17, and was to be married on May 12 to a 22-year-old man of Thurkapally mandal. The second instance was reported from Marrikunta tanda where a 16-year-old was to be married to a 22-year-old person. 

In both instances. the Bhongiri division SHE team accompanied by a Turkapally police official went to the houses of the minors and counselled their families following which they dropped the plan.

Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh M. Bhagwat lauded the efforts of the team and the police would initiate strict action against those involved in child marriages.
