Telangana: Bribe amounts pinned to RTA forms found in office
The motor vehicle Inspector of that division is Mr K. Rama Mohammad, the officer in authority.
Hyderabad: A bunch of applications for vehicle registration, driving licence and renewal were found lying on a table with a bundle of cash in a plastic cover pinned to the applications.
The whistleblower who clicked the picture on May 8 claimed it was shot at the Road Transport Authority office — Patancheru division, and cited it as a case of corruption.
However, the TS transport commissioner’s office says it has conducted an enquiry, and the photo was not taken inside the premises of the Patancheru RTA office but at an agent’s (tout’s) table.
Speaking to this newspaper, whistleblower Palnati Rajendra from Chitrapuri (Cyberabad) said, “The picture was clicked at the table of an assistant working at the Patancheru RTA’s office and this was within the Patancheru RT office premises. The motor vehicle Inspector of that division is Mr K. Rama Mohammad, the officer in authority. The cash includes the prescribed fee (service charge) and includes bribe. It is a regular practice, cash in plastic covers is submitted to the junior or senior assistant table, to push the file for approval.”
