Hyderabad: Six of a family arrested for bid to kill girl’s husband
SR Nagar police then deputed a constable who brought the couple to the police station, and counselled their parents.
Hyderabad: Six members of a girl’s family were arrested for attacking her husband on Friday evening.
According to the police, the accused along with two friends followed the newlywed couple to Sangareddy in an autorickshaw, intercepted their vehicle, attacked the husband, and fled from the scene.
Shaik Imtiyaz Ali, 21, and Zainab Fathima fell in love, eloped during Ramzan and married. Zainab had left home under the pretext of bangle shopping.
Disturbed by her disappearance, Zainab’s family filed a complaint with SR Nagar police.
The couple eventually informed her parents about their marriage via the Sangareddy police.
SR Nagar police then deputed a constable who brought the couple to the police station, and counselled their parents. During the session, their parents pretended to come to terms with the marriage. The police, with Zainab’s consent, sent her back with her parents. The following day, June 7, Imtiaz Ali visited SR Nagar police station with Zainab and his parents and relatives.
Police said Zainab’s father Mosin Ali, his sons Farooq Ali and Ahmed Ali, and son-in-law Muhammad Ali devised a plan to kill Imtiaz Ali.
As per the plan, the accused Farooq Ali and two of his friends waited with knives in an autorickshaw outside SR Nagar police station for Imtiaz Ali to appear.
SR Nagar police inspector Y. Ajay Kumar said, “Imtiaz Ali, along with his parents, relatives, and Zainab Fatima, left the police station around 3.45 pm in a Toyota Qualis. Farooq and his friends followed him in one autorickshaw, while the girl’s father and other family members followed them in another.
Farooq intercepted the Imtiaz Ali’s vehicle outside ICICI Bank, SR Nagar, and attacked him with a knife.”
As people in the vicinity began to gather, Farooq and the others fled from the scene. The passersby then rushed Imtiaz Ali to a private hospital in Ameerpet.
The accused persons very strategically discarded their blood-stained clothing and knives inside the two autorickshaws and then took shelter at their relatives’ residence, where the police apprehended them on Saturday. Two autorickshaws, five knives, and blood-stained clothing were recovered and seized.
