Kochi girl among ISIS aspirants
The family had warned her about visiting Sri Lanka and the traps made by Yahiya to link with extremists.
Kochi: A Kochi native identified as Merrin is amongst a group of persons allegedly leaving Kerala with the intention of joining Islamic State. Merrin, married to Bestin Vincent, a Christian boy belonging to Palakkad, had reportedly converted to Islam along with her husband. Both changed their name after conversion with Merrin becoming Mariam and Bestin adopting the name Yahiya.
According police sources the family members of Maraim hailing from Thammanam have expressed suspicion about their daughter being part of the group allegedly left for joining the IS. The parents said they have not received any information from her for the past three months after she had left for Sri Lanka to study Islam, officials said.
