Chennai: Man arrested for raping girlfriend, threatening her

Police said the issue became more serious when Deepak sent a video to the man to whom the victim was supposed to get married.

Chennai: A 22-year-old man was arrested by the city police for allegedly raping his ex-lover and blackmailing her saying he would upload the videos of the sexual act between them on the internet.  Police identified the arrested as M Deepak alias Danny, of T P Chatram. He was arrested by the Kilpauk all women police station.

According to the police, Deepak was a student of the victim's physical trainer father and had fallen in love with the girl.  "When the two were in a relationship, he took the girl to his house, where he spiked her cool drink and allegedly sexually assaulted her besides video recording the incident using his mobile phone," police disclosed. But when the girl decided not to continue the relationship he started threatening her saying he would upload their photos on the internet.

Police said the issue became more serious when Deepak sent a video to the man to whom the victim was supposed to get married. Following this, the wedding was called off.  After this incident, a depressed victim informed her parents about Deepak.  Following which a complaint was registered with the Kilpauk all women's police station and the police arrested Deepak under various sections of IPC including rape and also for publishing or transmitting obscene materials in electronic form under IT act. He was later remanded to judicial custody by the judicial magistrate.
